Thus, we were driven back to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in The Bluffs last night with a few questions for the barista who keeps a pet crow.

"What's his name?" we asked while the second barista prepared our single shot expresso.

"Edgar," she replied.

"As in Allen Poe?"

"Yup. At first we thought he was a raven."

We paused for a second to take in this woman who rescues stray dogs, cats, and crows.

"You're very spiritual, aren't you?" we asked.

"Yes."

"Are you a witch? And I mean that in a good way."

"Yes, I am," she said with a glint in the eye.

"Me too!" we replied with joy, having found a kindred spirit in witchdom.

"Would you like to sit outside for a couple of minutes and talk while I take my break?" she asked.

"I'd love to."
