Chapman PRA Hosts The Launch Of The Mothers Against Nickelodeon
Posted on 2009.11.08 at 01:56After viewing Consuming Kids on a recent Thursday afternoon, 81% of the 32 students enrolled in my Chapman University Principles of Advertising class were "convinced" that some type of regulation is needed to protect children and families from the practices of child marketers, most notably Nickelodeon and Disney.
Committed to bringing knowledge and insight to the application of Social Media in the fields of Advertising and Public Relations, Chapman PRA (Public Relations and Advertising) hosts the third in its series of Social Media events when The Mothers Against Nickelodeon officially launches with a free screening of Consuming Kids and a presentation by the co-founder of a Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood.
The event takes place at 7:00 on December 3 at the Folino Theater at Chapman's Dodge College.
The Mothers Against Nickelodeon was founded by ChapmanPRA students and alums in response to the ideals, strategies, and non-family-friendly tactics of the world's most powerful kid brand.
"Boycott Nick," they say.
"#boycottnick," they Twitter.
